Garment Sizing Information

How to take your measurements:

What to Use
Have someone else do your measurements for accurate results. Use a flexible measuring tape with 1 inch increments. Do not use a carpenter's tape measure.

  • Shoulder Girth:
Measure the widest part of your shoulders by wrapping the flexible tape around the shoulders with both arms down.
  • Waist / Hip Girth:
Measure the girth of your waist by wrapping the tape around your waist at the widest part of your hips. (Most waist measurements are measured around the smallest part of your waist)
  • Inseam Length:
Measure from the groin to the ankle in a straight line.
  • Arm Length:
Measure from the center vertebrae below your neck, over your shoulder bone straight down to the wrist bone.
  • Chest Girth:
Measure the girth of your chest by wrapping the tape around the widest part of your chest. Do not take deep breaths to ensure accuracy.

The most important thing to consider when determining the proper size and fit for our garment is your layering system. We have already taken into account that you will have the proper amount of layers on underneath the down garment when wearing it. The warmer the garment, the larger it will be cut to accommodate other layers.

Our lightweight jackets are sized much like a fleece jacket or sweater. It should fit snug for proper insulation; if you need to wear a waterproof shell, it should be worn over the Helios jacket.

Our Volant jacket should be sized similar to your external layers. Your waterproof and windproof shells must be form fitting to allow the Volant to fit over it properly. We recommend wearing the Volant as the last layer in your layering system for proper insulation. When you are hiking or climbing, you simply pull it out and put it on. When you need to start moving again, you can remove it and pack it again.

Our Frontpoint jacket, Icefall parka and Rock & Ice parka are specifically designed to fit over all of your layers.

* A Note for Women
When selecting one of our unisex garments, the easiest way to determine your size is by reviewing what you currently own or by taking your measurements. In general, women's sizes are typically one step up from unisex sizes. (i.e., a men's small is a woman's medium, etc.) Consider having the garment custom tailored if you believe you might have trouble fitting a standard sized garment. The largest issue is typically the arm length. We can shorten or lengthen the arms if necessary, which will allow a much more proper fit of our garments.

Note:
We can shorten or lengthen the arms on any of our garments in 1" increments for a custom construction fee. For more information please call customer service.

The most important thing to consider when determining the proper size and fit for our pants is your layering system. We have already taken into account that you will have the proper amount of layers on underneath the down garment when wearing it. The warmer the garment, the larger it will be cut to accommodate other layers.

Our Helios pant is sized very much like fleece pants or tights. It should fit snug for proper insulation. If you need to wear a waterproof shell, it should be worn over the Helios pants.

Our Volant pant is to be sized like all of your external layers. Your waterproof and windproof shells must fit very streamlined to allow the Volant pants to fit over it properly. We recommend wearing the Volant pant as the last layer in your layering system for proper insulation. This way you never need to remove any of your layers to put the Volant pants on. When you are hiking or climbing, you simply pull it out and put it on. When you need to start moving again, you can simply remove it and pack it again.

Our Frontpoint pant and -40 pant is specifically designed to fit over all of your layers. We also designed them slightly shorter so there will be very little overlap with insulated boots. If you have a different application other than mountaineering, consider possibly lengthening the inseam.

Note:
We can shorten or lengthen the inseam on any of our garments in 1" increments for a custom construction fee. For more information please call customer service.
