The Vireo was designed with alpine climbers in mind. It has no zipper, no hood, a variable down fill and weighs only 16 ounces. A variable down fill means that the lower part of the bag has more down fill (rated to 25) and the upper section has less fill (a 45 rating). It is designed to be used with the Volant Jacket (or Hooded Helios or Frontpoint parka) for full protection. Used without the jacket it becomes a summer bag. This compact, light system is great for climbers, bicyclists or emergency use. The unique features of the Wren bags make them favorites for bicyclists, light hikers and for use in a bivy bag. A drawstring closure at the bottom of the bag allows you to pull the bag up and walk around camp. The main zipper comes halfway down the bag and there are two zipped arm openings, so you can actually wear the bag for cooking or reading. Both bags are baffled. Both Wrens work great in combination with a down jacket for colder weather.
